The symposium “Institutional Child Abuse: an Hidden Phenomenon Prevention, Recognition of Institutional Responsibility and Response to Victims”, took place the 7th February 2019 in the European Parliament.
During the symposium project partners present SASCA findings, which examined child abuse in institutional settings, from the perspective of adult survivors.
Project partners expounded the dynamics and long-term effects of such events, characteristics and impact of institutional child abuse, its relevance for European and international institutions and institutional responsibilities and response to victims,
In this occasion SASCA partnership share proposals to European Parliamentarians related to the need to enrich the EU legislation with specific rules and recommendations related to abuse of children in institutional setting and to the prevention of this phenomenon. The proposal where the occasion of a debate with contribution of participants from the European Parliament, the European Commission and ONG.
